Preliminary task video

Preliminary video script

plot:
a notorious terrorist has been captured by MI5 and is being interrogated and eventually reveals the information, however little does the interrogator know that his colleague is actually an undercover terrorist and aids the terrorist in his escape

Interrogator: Well, Mr._______, you have currently been charged with treason, attempted mass murder and possession of weapons of mass destruction. What do you have to say for yourself?

Terrorist:
(silence)

Interrogator:
Mr.______ I would advise you that if you do not comply with us then we will be left with no choice but to charge you with the three crimes which would result in a public execution

Terrorist:
(Silence)

Interrogator:
(chuckles)
Quiet one aren’t ya’
However, if you were to comply then I could perhaps make you an offer maybe less extreme? Than being decapitated

Terrorist:
What do you want?

Interrogator:
We want to know who you work for

Terrorist:
I work for your mum
(laughs)

Interrogator:
(Smacks terrorist across the face)
(angrily)
Now listen here if you don’t tell me what I need to know right this instance then...

*Enter Interrogator 2*
*Grabs interrogator 1*
Relax! Relax! We can't interrogate him if he's dead

Interrogator 1: that's a lot more than what he deserves

(Terrorist chuckles)

Interrogator 2: I'll take it from here...
So, Mr._______
*places photo on table*
Is this you in this photograph?

Terrorist: Yeah obviously

Interrogator 2:
Coincidentally, you appear to be walking away from the location in all of these photos. Hmm interesting

Interrogator 1:
*interjects*
Look, we're not getting anywhere here...
(Angrily) Where were you on the 23rd of April 2007?

Terrorist:
Cheeky nandos with the boys, it was a blast if you know what I mean... (chuckles)

(Interrogator 1 attempts to grab the terrorist but is restrained by interrogator 2)

Interrogator 1:
Well if you weren't there then who caused the explosion and who were you working for?

Terrorist:
OK, I work for ________

Interrogator 1:

That's all we needed to know

Interrogator 2:

I'll take him to back to his cell now
(unties terrorist)

Evaluation
In conclusion, I was pleased with the outcome and quality of the video my group created and I felt that the efforts and contributions as group were outstanding, which is the reason for this. Although there were negatives and positives regarding the production process, lessons for the future can be taken from every aspect.
Due to prior experience, our group were able to record and use the equipment with relative ease, even implementing a dolly cam to the production. However despite the fact we were using a Sony 1080p hd handheld camera, we found the video quality of the movie was slightly lower quality than our expectations and was producing slightly blurred and out of focus video and in future I will look to avoid this.
Our group also used a  wide range of camera angles in order to create match on action, aswell as to add to the professionalism of the video. We also felt that the  POV camera angle inside the interrogation room would add effect whilst also linking to the theory of escapism by Blumler and Mcquail aswell as adding effect.  The use of props also such as the rope and documents on the table also helped our video stay true to its genre and look legitimate.
One of the most noticeable flaws about our video however would be the continuity error caused by a pumpkin on the table. Due to the ever changing nature of  our location (the six form common room) which we found to be problematic to record in due to disruptions and in future the location we choose will be taken into more consideration. However the location was still very suitable to our genre and script, aswell as aiding us in recording due to the tables and chairs which were inside it creating our 'interrogation' room .
From looking at this video also, the importance of a score and soundtrack has been highlighted to me and I feel as though if we were to have created one, it would've added alot to the feel and suspense of the movie.
I also felt that the use of props in terms of costume was also a great idea by the group and made our film to stay true to its genre.
The use of storyboards was also key to the production, as our camera shots were all based off the shots noted on the storyboard and I feel this was a key to our success as a group in producing a high quality, action packed video.
In conclusion, the production of this short video has been beneficial to my video editing skills and has improved my understanding of camera angles and movements significantly
